Scratched Floors? We Handle It.
Determine whether the mark is in the surface finish, colour layer or the wood itself.
Match the wood species, colour, sheen and existing finish before selecting a repair approach.
Compare a localized treatment with broader refinishing when surrounding wear or colour variation will remain visible.

Not all scratches are the same, and the repair method has to match the damage. Light, surface-level scuffs in the top finish layer are one thing. Deep gouges that have cut into the wood itself are another. We start by assessing the actual damage, not just looking at the mark. This tells us whether we can buff and recoat the area or if we need to perform a more involved repair.
For surface scratches, the process is often straightforward. We can lightly abrade, or 'screen', the finish to smooth out the imperfection. Then we apply a new coat of polyurethane that bonds with the existing finish. This restores the protective layer and makes the scratch disappear without affecting the wood's color. It's a precise process that avoids the cost and dust of a full sanding.
When a scratch has gone through the finish and into the wood, a different approach is needed. This is where DIY kits fail. We use professional-grade wood fillers that are tinted to match your floor's specific colour. After filling the gouge and letting it cure, we carefully sand it perfectly level with the surrounding floor. The final step is the most critical: expertly feathering in stain and multiple layers of finish to match the original sheen and texture. This makes the repair durable and blends it in seamlessly.
Using a store-bought wax stick or marker might hide a scratch for a week, but it won't last. Those fixes often attract dirt and end up looking worse than the original scratch. A professional repair is about durability. We use the right materials and techniques to ensure the repaired spot stands up to foot traffic and cleaning just like the rest of your floor. Don't waste time on temporary solutions. Give us a call, and we'll fix it properly the first time.
Repair expectations: Repair appearance depends on the condition of the surrounding floor and the availability of compatible matching material.
