Trace the movement
Locate whether the sound comes from a tread, riser, stringer connection or a moving fastener.
Precision repair for every single step.
Locate whether the sound comes from a tread, riser, stringer connection or a moving fastener.
Photos from above and below help determine which components can be reached without unnecessary finish damage.
Select fastening, blocking or joint treatment based on the moving connection—not the sound alone.

That persistent squeak isn't just an annoyance; it's a sign of a structural issue. Stairs are typically made of three main parts: the treads (what you step on), the risers (the vertical piece), and the stringers (the angled frame that supports everything). Over time, as your house settles and the wood reacts to Clarington's changing humidity, small gaps can form. The squeak you hear is simply the sound of wood rubbing against wood, or a fastener moving in its pocket. It’s a friction problem, and fixing it properly requires understanding exactly which parts are moving.
We don't believe in quick fixes that just mask the problem. Our approach is methodical, because doing it right the first time is the only way. First, we perform a thorough inspection, walking every step and applying pressure to pinpoint the exact location and cause of each sound. Is it the tread rubbing against the riser? Is a tread loose on the stringer? Finding the source is the most critical step.
Once We’ve identified the problem areas, we determine the least invasive way to fix them. For stairs accessible from underneath, we can add construction adhesive and blocking for rock-solid support. For finished stairs, we use specialized trim-head screws that can be counter-sunk and filled with matching putty, making the repair as discreet as conditions allow. We never use simple nails that will just work loose again. It’s about creating a permanent, structural bond that eliminates movement entirely.
A proper repair does more than just stop a noise; it strengthens the staircase. Many times, one squeak is a symptom of a more widespread issue. We check the integrity of the surrounding steps to ensure the entire structure is sound. Whether your stairs are covered in carpet or are beautiful finished hardwood, our techniques are adapted to protect your flooring. Our focus is on a clean worksite and a repair that you can feel and, more importantly, not hear. The result is a staircase that feels solid underfoot and restores the peaceful atmosphere of your home. Call us at (647) 898-7839 to discuss your project.

HomeOwner • 28 Nov 2013 • HomeStars"Just like everyone out there trying to upgrade their home, we decided to update the living room flooring from old dirty carpet to nice low maintenance Laminate. Thinking we could do it ourselves as DIY folks. Well like all great projects, we failed to estimate the cost of the tools to do the project and our lack of expertise. In desperation, after installing the underlay, we realized we could not do the job. I was extremely luck in finding Rudy from Delightflooring. He was able to response to my email within 30 minutes and was available to start the next day on installation of our living room floor. His service is exceptional and perhaps one of the best floor installers in Canada. He worked without breaks and hard installing the floor. It came out extremely beautiful. He brought amazing tools to do the job and did the job without error on first time cuts. He tackled difficult corners and was able to make the installation seamless. Would I recommend this installer to anyone. YES YES YES. He deserves an award for being the most conscious, clean and precise installer in the construction business. We need more like him with this kind of skill and customer service."

His team was very professional and they did a good job tiding up after themselves. Our floors look amazing. I would highly recommend using this company, they are all the things you could ask for in a contractor; polite, neat, reasonably priced and timely. Thank you so much again Rudy for all your great work!"
